I’m so tired
I can’t sleep

I stay awake
Craving for dreams

Looking up at the ceiling
Hoping to see stars

The lights are off
But it’s not darkest dark

My eyes don’t close
They want to, but they cant

Thoughts intrude
Thoughts never die

I realise I could sleep
But only if I wouldn’t care

The head goes heavy
I yawn again

The more I want peace, the more it dodges me
And the more I wonder

Is everything you never wanted all you really have?
Is everything you wanted all you don’t have?

Is there more to life than waiting here to die?
There's got to be a better way to pass the time?

Is nothing worth holding onto?
Is nothing all that's strong enough to hold you?

Hollow empty eyes overflowing with questions
Bleeding for answers

So the more you want something, the more you have to 'not want' it. Then, you will get what you want. Paradox eh?

Lil J and Big J always dreamt of having a band. And so they did. They started a band called 'Terribly Timely and Fashionably Late'. But they soon realised that it wasn’t for the music that they formed a band. They wanted to make videos more than the music. Videos that inspired music. They decided 'Terribly Timely and Fashionably Late' would be far too long a name for their new video band (you see the difference there? It’s a ‘video’ band, not a ‘music’ band. Uber cool eh?). So, from that day on, the duo called themselves Late in Time: Video Band. J&J went on to make videos for music bands like ‘The Inspired’, ‘The Depressed’, ‘Murder was the Game’, and ‘The Fuckers’. Catch their latest videos at ‘Refused TV’.

"What’s in a name," might’ve been okay for that Shakespeare dude to wonder b’cos those were different times. Today, packaging is everything and name, if you didn’t know already, is very much an intrinsic part of the total package. Style is more important than content and covers are more important than the books themselves, if you know what I mean. In an interview to the Rolling Stone magazine, the legendary music historian Luke Warm, now 94 years of age, insists that Late in Time: Video Band is perhaps the best example of how raw talent is being stymied by poor marketing strategy. In his opinion, if the cross-dressing brother and sister duo were to change their name to something more appealing and hip, for instance The Lil Big, they’d go even further in their careers. As chronicled in The Rock Encyclopaedia (2005), the Video Band started off brilliantly with a music video for the 2003 hit single 'I See Stupid People' by The Depressed. This was followed by their video for the Grammy-winning single 'Picasso' in 2004, the raunchy love ballad by The Inspired. These two vastly dissimilar songs by two bands that couldn’t possibly be more different from each other are intrinsically linked by the lyrical quality of their respective music videos. The tonal quality of the videos, the choice of colours, the locations used and, indeed, the edit patterns bind them in a common thread, which is also seen in The Insiders current hit 'No Cousin’s Wedding'. I’m not sure I agree but Mr Luke Warm feels that their videos are just as beautiful as Monet’s paintings. I guess one of us hasn’t ever seen a Monet painting. Hah! Jokes apart, I do concede that their videos are nothing short of brilliant. And, yet, no one outside of the music and film businesses has ever heard of the two weirdos! Why? Because, as I said in the beginning, their name just isn’t good enough! It’s some consolation, however, that some diehard fans like yourself are doing what they can to keep them going. Thanks for the post!
